6:45 AM SHARP today, our contractor showed up, and though Rich had already spent a terribly hot day removing our cabinets to donate to Habitat for Humanity, today was the official start. One week late didn't seem too bad after our long wait of 21 years in the house and with 10 more years on the kitchen.
Last Fall, our kitchen and appliances all decided it was time for them to head to the retirement home together. We started planning in earnest in January. Now the big decisions: cabinet, granite, appliance, backsplash lighting, sink, and electrical had been made and demolition began. We are now officially kitchen-less, and thus, the birth of this blog.
So, to all of you friends and families who have been through this, wish us well. To liven all this up, we want you with us.
1. Shall we start a pool for the date of completion? Our contractor says we will be done by September 1
2. How many change orders will there be?
3. How over-budget will we be?
4. How many dinners will we eat out in the next 47 days?
5. Will we need marriage counseling?
PS. What did we have for dinner tonight? We microwaved sweet corn, leftover salt potatos and burgers from our weekend barbecue. It was a tually quite delicious.
